Job Description
The Estates and Facilities Directorate is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Painter and decorator at the Freeman Hospital.
To carry out decoration programmes, minor works and day to day reactive maintenance. The decoration programme is critical to achieving a suitable patient environment for all Wards and Departments to deliver the highest level of care.

The successful candidate will be accountable directly to the painting Supervisor and overall, to the Estates Building Officer. The post holder will be expected to perform a wide range of duties covering all aspects of painting and decorating applicable to the trade.
You will be required to interpret work from drawings, instructions and specifications; diagnose faults and carry out necessary repair work. In conjunction with the painting Supervisor, you will liaise with clinical teams when carrying out work in patient areas to ensure patient safety and Infection Control is not compromised so good communication and organizational skills are paramount to being a success in this role. It is essential you have an understanding of other craftsmen's work in relation to their own discipline to provide a coherent service when carrying out both maintenance and minor work schemes.
You will have served a relevant and recognized craft apprenticeship in painting and decoration, Qualification to Level 3 (such as City and Guilds or equivalent) or National Vocational Qualification Level 2 with substantial post qualification experience and successful completion of appropriate training courses or equivalent qualifications/experience.

• The post holder will:
• Contribute to the maintenance of the fabric Trust property.
• Carry out building fabric maintenance:
o New works and redecoration programmes
o Reactive decorative maintenance works
o Ensuring high standard of “finish” on all work EST/ANC/EST/TRT/002b
o Daily maintenance of equipment and tools
o Maintenance of stock level / liaison with stores personnel when necessary
• Remain aware of the direct affect and impact upon:
o The environment,
o Safety and comfort of patients, staff and members of the public.
o Respond pro-actively as required to defects and maintenance tasks.
• Involvement with processing documentation associated with Estates IT admin requirement.
